Why these three niches: tech, travel, pets

A gadget site, a luxury travel site and a pet site walk into one company. The logic behind the portfolio.

A gadget site, a luxury travel site and a pet site under one roof looks random until you line up what the three audiences do. They research before they spend. They spend more than average in their category. And they come back every week, because the category never stands still.

What all three audiences share

Purchase intent is the first common thread. Nobody reads three carry-on luggage reviews for entertainment; they read them because a trip is booked. The same goes for a reader comparing robot vacuums or senior dog food. Second: category loyalty. A reader who trusts us on one laptop comes back for the next one. Third: each niche has advertisers who want exactly those readers, from hardware brands to hotels to pet insurers, which keeps the model sustainable without chasing every click on the internet.

Why not one site about everything

Because a generalist editor covers nothing properly. The person who can tell you whether a resort's "private beach" is actually private is not the person benchmarking foldable phones, and pretending otherwise is how sites end up reviewing everything and knowing nothing. A reader who wants all three topics is rare, so the topics get three sites, three editors and three lines on the network map.

Why not a fourth line yet

Discipline, mostly. A new line opens only when three things exist at once: an audience with the same research-and-spend pattern, an editor who owns the beat, and a revenue model that does not pressure the coverage. Candidates come up in every planning session. Until all three boxes are ticked, the network stays at three.

A new line opens when the audience, the editor and the model all exist. Not before.

Where each line leads

The portfolio shows up in the physical world on the same logic. Interchange Singapore is hosted by TechDailyBrief because Southeast Asia buys hardware like nowhere else. Interchange Zürich belongs to LuxuryEscapeGuide and its travel partners. The background on how the whole network fits together is in the network explainer.
